ABOUT WILLIAM REVELS FARM
Jon and Jeni Revels own and operate William Revels Farm in Hastings, Florida. This family operation is committed to protecting the natural resources found throughout their property as well as the neighboring St. Johns Rivers. Revels and his family grew up enjoying the river and he feels deeply about farming in a way that ultimately protects this valuable resource. Best Management Practices help the Revels family dial in every practice and ensure they’re using water and nutrients most efficiently. Water leaving their farm is cleaner than when it first entered.
Revels grows chip potatoes, corn and table stock on more than 1,000 acres between Hastings and Crescent City. After purchasing the family farm from his father in the 90s, Revels has worked to expand his acreage and production while maintaining effective sustainability efforts.
Jon Revels is a pioneer in Florida’s potato industry. He well understands the need to use as little fertilizer as possible to prevent leaching into nearby waterways. With the St. Johns river being only a mile from his Hastings operation developing a new fertilizer applicator was critical. Revels work his son and brother to build this new piece of equipment to save on fertilizer use and costs. He also implements BMPs such as drain tile to reduce water use.
Revels believes BMPs help him produce a better crop while protecting his local environment. Florida Farm Bureau is honored to present John and Jeni Revels, of William Revels Farm, with a 2019 CARES designation and sign for their continued efforts to protect our precious natural resources.
