ABOUT PERSICA LANDSCAPE NURSERY

Persica Landscape Nursery has been in operation since 2001, when Reza and Ashie Karimipour started the family business in Leon County. Today, they sell nursery plants, trees and shrubs and have implemented Best Management Practices (BMPs) since 2008 in order to manage water and nutrient use and protect local water quality.

Some of the most effective BMPs implemented include installing drip irrigation to reduce water use by more than 30%. To prevent nutrient runoff, all irrigation drains to ponds on-site with planted vegetation and bald cypress trees that uptake and filter excessive nutrients. As a result, no nutrients run off the property and re-enter nearby waterways.

To protect soil health and prevent erosion, ground covers and fabric are used. When applying nutrients, slow-release fertilizers are used to allow optimal uptake. To protect wildlife, a buffer of native trees is maintained around the property’s edge allowing habitats to thrive undisturbed.

Persica Landscape Nursey is involved in several state and national level organizations. These include the Florida Nursery and Landscape Association, the International Society of Arboriculture and the Landscape Professionals Organization.

Florida Farm Bureau Federation is honored to award a 2019 CARES designation and sign to Reza and Ashie Karimipour, of Persica Landscape Nursery, for their dedication in being outstanding environmental stewards.
