ABOUT HENDRICKS AND SON FARMS
Richard Hendricks and family have been growing cotton and peanuts and raising beef across multiple generations of family members in Santa Rosa County.
Hendricks has implemented Best Management Practices, such as no- till to reduce erosion and improve soil health. Other effective BMPs implemented include fertilizing with variable rate and using GPS in order to precisely apply when and exactly where nutrients are needed. Terraces, grass waterways and filter strips are located throughout fields and conservation tillage is used to prevent soil erosion and nutrient runoff. He also plants and rotates with cover crops, such as wheat and soybeans. These are practical covers used between growing seasons to lock in moisture and improve soil health.
Hendricks works daily to protect the natural resources found throughout his family’s land.
Florida Farm Bureau Federation is proud to award Richard Hendricks and family with a 2019 CARES designation and sign.
