Flying P Ranch, Marion County
Nicholas Kent has been raising beef cattle for more than 17 years. In addition to his cow/calf operation, the ranch serves as a recharge area for the Rainbow Springs basin area and natural habitat for wildlife. He also works with local producers to grow watermelons, peanuts and grass seeds, which allows them to provide for the community and keep nutrients in the ground.
To ensure the land is taken care of, Nicholas rotates his cattle and crops as well as monitors fertilizer and chemical usage to prevent overuse.
