Allison Acres
Allison Acres has been in operation since 2012 when Hank Allison began planting blueberries in Madison County. They have since expanded to also growing lavender, perennial peanut hay, and raising goats. The Allison’s are also starting to offer U-pick items including strawberries, blackberries, mayhaws, and more.
The Allison’s farm on 2019 acres and implement an extensive and highly effective conservation program. Through implementing Best Management Practices (BMPs) on each parcel of land they accomplish their goals to protect the natural resources and assist in the natural process of maintaining the environment.
Some of the most effective BMPs on the operation include the nutrient program that is monitored with small controlled applications throughout the growing season. The drip irrigation is set on timers to control how much water is applied and at what time of day. Soil on the operation is monitored for moisture content to determine if watering is needed. The row middles are maintained with grass to prevent and manage any erosion that may happen. The IPM program is used to reduce or stop use of pesticide use. Our Pest management is closely monitored, and applications are only applied when needed.
In regards to leadership both Hank and Marene are very involved. They are members of the Florida Blueberry Growers Association, Michigan Blueberry Growers Coop, American Boer Goat Association, FBI Agents Association, serves on the West Point Association of Graduates Diversity and Inclusion Committee and is currently the President of West Point Women.
